Privacy Policy
DoodleNook is made for children aged 4–10. We keep it simple: we collect as little as possible and never sell or share it.

🦉 Privacy in kid words
- You can play everything without an account.
- If you make an account, use a made-up nickname, not your real name.
- We never ask for your email, address, school, photo or phone number.
- There is no chat, so nobody on DoodleNook can talk to you.
- Your drawings stay on your device.
- Keep your 4 secret pictures secret, just like a password!
1. Who we are
DoodleNook (doodlenookkids.com) is a free learning website with games, drawing, coloring and printable pages for children. In this policy, "we" and "us" means the people who run DoodleNook. You can contact us at info@doodlenookkids.com.
2. Playing without an account
Children can use every game and activity without signing up. Stars, levels, game progress, the sound setting and drawings are saved only in the browser on that device (using "local storage"). This information is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing the browser's site data for doodlenookkids.com.
3. Optional accounts: what we store
An account lets a child continue their progress on another device. We designed accounts so they do not need any real personal details. When an account is created, our server stores:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Nickname (3–16 letters or numbers) | To find the account when the child logs in. We ask children not to use their real name. |
| Chosen animal picture | Shown next to the nickname. |
| The 4 secret pictures, scrambled (hashed) | To check the login. We store only a scrambled version, so we cannot see which pictures were chosen. |
| Login keys, scrambled (hashed) | To keep the child logged in on up to 5 devices. |
| Game progress | Stars, levels, badges, My World and Fantasy Land progress, so they can be restored on another device. |
| Created and last-saved dates; count of wrong login tries | To run the account and pause logins for 15 minutes after too many wrong tries. |
Drawings, the coloring gallery and Block Island worlds are never uploaded. They stay on the device. Stickers, daily missions and song stars count as game progress and are saved like other progress.
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, home or school addresses, photos, voice recordings or precise location. We do not knowingly allow children to share personal information with other users, because DoodleNook has no chat, comments, messages or public profiles.
4. Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider (Hostinger) records basic technical details when a page is requested, such as the IP address, browser type and the page visited. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, and are kept and deleted under the hosting provider's own policies.
- Account sign-up limit. To stop people creating huge numbers of accounts, we store a one-way scrambled code made from the network address and the date when an account is created. It cannot be turned back into the address and is only used for that same day.
- Fonts. Our letters use Google Fonts, which are loaded from Google's servers. When a page loads, your browser asks Google for the font files, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. See Google's privacy policy.
- 3D game engine. Block Island loads a free 3D graphics library (three.js) from cdnjs, a public file service run by Cloudflare. When that page loads, Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Read-aloud voice. The "Hear it" and read-aloud buttons use the speech voice built into your device's browser. On some devices the browser may use an online voice service from the browser maker (for example Google or Microsoft) to speak the words.
- Visitor statistics (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and games are popular, so we know what to improve. It uses a cookie and receives the IP address, browser type, rough location (country or city) and pages visited. We have switched off all advertising features, ad personalization and Google signals, and we never send names, nicknames or account details to it. See Google's privacy policy.
We do not use advertising, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or behavioral profiling. We do not show ads to children.
5. How we use information
We use the information above only to run DoodleNook: to save and restore game progress, to keep accounts secure, to prevent abuse and to fix problems. We never sell, rent or trade it, and we never use it for advertising or marketing.
6. Who can see it
Account data is stored on our hosting provider's server in a private folder that cannot be downloaded from the website. Only the people who run DoodleNook and our hosting provider (as needed to provide the service) can access it. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child.
7. How long we keep it
Account data is kept until the account is deleted. We may also delete accounts that have not been used for a long time. Information saved only in the browser stays on that device until it is cleared.
8. Parents' choices and rights
Parents and guardians are in control. You can:
- Use DoodleNook without an account. No account is ever required.
- Delete an account yourself. Log in, tap the account button at the top of any page, open "Grown-ups: delete this account" and confirm. The nickname and all saved progress are removed from our server straight away.
- Ask us to review or delete what we hold about your child, or to stop saving it, by emailing info@doodlenookkids.com with the nickname. We may ask a few questions to make sure the request is genuine.
- Clear data on a device by clearing the browser's site data for doodlenookkids.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have extra rights under local privacy laws (for example, laws that protect children's information online). We will help with any request under those laws.
9. Security
Secret pictures and login keys are stored only in scrambled form. Logins are paused after repeated wrong tries, the site uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and account files are kept outside the public part of the website. No system is perfect, so please teach children to keep their secret pictures private and to use a nickname instead of their real name.
10. Links to other websites
The "Share DoodleNook" button for grown-ups can open WhatsApp or Facebook, and this page links to Google's policy. Those websites have their own privacy policies. We do not place their tracking tools on our pages.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If we ever want to collect more information from children, we will change this policy first and ask for a parent's permission where the law requires it.
